Governor’s Career Readiness Summit to Be Live-Streamed

Wichita – The 2012 Governor’s Career Readiness Summit has reached capacity and registration for the event scheduled for next Wednesday, January 18th is now closed.

Because of the overwhelming response to the Summit, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback today announced that an audio feed for the 2012 Governor’s Career Readiness Summit will be streamed live online. Kansans interested in listening to the summit will be able to access the audio stream at:

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/careerreadinesssummit

The summit will be an opportunity for local and national education leaders and other stakeholders to discuss strategies for improving career readiness. The event is on January 18th and will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The summit will include presentations from:

· Donna Deeds, Executive Director, Center for Advanced Professional Studies at the Blue Valley School District
· Steve Anderson, ACT
· Sherry Adrian, Incoming President, Oklahoma Association of Career and Technical Education
· David Patterson, Principal, Hutchinson Career and Technical Education Academy

Following the presentations, Governor Brownback will lead a roundtable discussion and question and answer session.

The roundtable discussion will include:

· Dr. Diane DeBacker, Kansas Commissioner of Education, KSDE
· Caleb Asher, Kansas Department of Commerce
· Dr. Andy Thompkins, Kansas Board of Regents
· Karin Brownlee, Secretary of the Kansas Department of Labor
· Richard Taylor, President of the Central and Western Kansas Building and Construction Trades Council and the Plumbers and Pipefitters local 441
· Tony Kinkel, Wichita Area Technical College
· Dr. Carl Heilman, Barton County Community College
