YOUR ADVOCATE IN TOPEKA

Greg Smith is running for the Kansas Legislature because he realizes that both political parties have abandoned core principles: fiscal responsibility; limited government; and accountability.  These principles need to be restored.  Greg is the candidate who best represents the values and people of the 22nd District. As your Advocate and State Representative, Greg will:

LIMIT THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT & STOP WASTE OF YOUR MONEY

In the last two years Kansas government has added 7500 positions and now has 267,000 employees while private sector jobs have declined.

Unproductive & wasteful programs need to be eliminated.

Ensure government spending is transparent, efficient and fair with agencies held to account for how they spend your money.

ENSURE A GROWING ECONOMY

Lower the tax burden on individuals and businesses.  Kansas ranks 27th worst in the nation for Personal Income Tax Rates.

Promote technologies and industries that provide jobs for Kansans.  Kansas is at a 26 year high in unemployment (Sep, 2009).

SUPPORT QUALITY PUBLIC EDUCATION

Keep Johnson County tax dollars in Johnson County Schools.

Reduce administrative costs.  Since 2003, K-12 education spending has increased over one billion dollars.

Put dollars towards educating students.  The graduation rate in Kansas has stagnated.

Johnson County provides 30% of the money for the state school budget.

ENFORCE THE RULE OF LAW

The laws that exist must be obeyed by all, including government officials.

Require all bills to be consistent with the US and State Constitutions.

Insist that official action should be consistent with the declared rule.

PROTECT THE 2nd AMENDMENT

The right to keep and bear arms should not be infringed on by the government.

PROTECT THE RIGHT TO LIFE

As the father of a murder victim, I understand the sanctity of life.

Paid for by the Greg Smith campaign, Karen Green, treasurer.
